@MaxZadow Stalin had to be talked out of throwing people at the Germans in Stalingrad. It was far better to be on the defensive. Finding positions the enemy feels they MUST attack, whatever the cost, is a solid strategy. The Russians continue this strategy. On the offense, they spend artillery rather than troops. Then they invite costly counter-attacks, where it's less about holding ground than about inflicting maximum casualties on the enemy. That's what's happening, now.
