  1. The main redeeming feature of the USA was its constitution, recognizing this fact, LIMITED the federal government, EXPLICITLY. And for 250 years, the politicians have systematically circumvented or overturned almost all limits on the role and scope of the federal government. Now we're like any nation in world history, no longer exceptional, only WORSE, because most of us still buy into our exceptionalism, which they've twisted to mean "We can impose our will, by force, on any nation or group or person we choose." Our elected officials behave like - and in some cases literally are - hereditary aristocracy. The Bush dynasty. Al Gore's daddy was a senator. The list goes on and on.
