  2.  @SamHainScott There've been other studies that show how people will do bad things when immersed in a bad culture. There was also a study where they told participants that they were trying to use biofeedback to bring out "psychic powers" in 'test subjects.' If they guessed the wrong figure on the card, they administered a small electric shock. Before long, the participants were administering what they THOUGHT were dangerous or even fatal shocks. They could even hear the 'test subjects' screaming. But they really wanted the experiment to work, and so they were just doing their duty. It was all faked, and the test subjects were the people who thought they had a shock button. The people who herded Jews onto trains were normal, well adjusted members of society. When society goes off the rails, people rationalize atrocities.
