  1. Term limits aren't the answer. You're treating a symptom. The ridiculous size and scope of government itself is the real problem. Even if they wanted to, Congress couldn't possibly oversee all the agencies and programs it has created, willy-nilly, over the years. All the pressure has been in one direction since before the Great Depression. "Government needs to do more" is the non-stop message handed down for over a century. And it's only gotten stronger with the passage of time, and government has only gotten bigger, and taken a bigger and bigger bite out of the economy.
