But don't allow yourself to be bullied, either. Christians were rare and very much abused in 1st-3rd-Centuries. They offered no violence and died, bravely with God's name on their lips in the Coliseum and other arenas. The Roman people saw that and were IMPRESSED by that. Their PERSECUTION was what won the hearts and minds of the Romans, until the Edict of Milan (313 A.D.), when Constantine decriminalized Christianity, and Christianity eventually became the official religion! Of course, they warped and twisted it to serve the goals of the elites at the time, but it's STILL an object lesson in how to win hearts and minds. The more obvious it becomes which side is actually fascist, because "our side" continues to fight with ideas (and humor!), while the other side uses bullying tactics and censorship to silence dissent, the more people we win to "our side." We'll never win an argument with a religion whose claims are unfalsifiable and even superficially true. But their own members will see how abusive and deranged "their side" is, and #walkaway. Sometimes it's when the mob turns on THEM. Sometimes it's when the mob turns on somebody that did nothing wrong. But they red-pill THEMSELVES when they've seen and heard enough bullshit. I hope and pray we don't have to be fed to lions in the Coliseum before the other side starts to change its mind. But people are getting martyred on a daily basis by having their lives destroyed by lies, smears, and violent threats. It's more way-of-life threatening, today, than it is actually life-threatening (although this too will come, if things continue on the current path). But Antifa's doing its level best to create martyrs like Andy Ngo and the little old lady crossing the street. They're not dead, but the harm done is plain for all to see.

Be careful not to become them in your fight to extirpate them. Many ideas that are good emanate from "progressives." Permaculture. Sustainability. Local control. Locally-grown food. Where they go wrong is when they fail to get EVERYone to live just like they (delusionally pretend they) do, they feel justified in the use of any and every force they can muster. They don't want The Machine to go away. They want it to do their bidding. As to your "hierarchy" comment, that sounds pretty top-down. Hierarchies arise inevitably, because they're necessary to get anything done, but they are also fraught with peril. The rot always starts at the head, at the TOP of the hierarchy, and BECAUSE it's a hierarchy, that rot quickly sets in clear down to the roots. This is where both progressives and hierarchy lovers go wrong. "We could do more if we had more money/power/authority." Somebody always has to MAKE these hierarchies stop when they're on that path, because they won't stop themselves. Life is good and we all want more of it. Hierarchies take on a life of their own and THEY always want more. There isn't a single bureaucrat in any organization who thinks his offices receive too much funding or have too much authority.

Humanities departments are politicizing ALL departments, mainly because STEM and other disciplines are too busy doing their thing to engage in the same kind of political nonsense on campus. And even in STEM, most professors are pretty progressive, except in the applied math, where your work actually has to stand up in the real world.

  28. Yes. What's funny is the guys who make the wild accusations are committing the exact thing they accuse others of doing. "Miscaptioned" is the term for when they use stock photos to illustrate their point, whether the photo has anything to do with the issue at hand or not. But when it's #walkaway, then instantly accuse of misleading and misrepresenting the (non)movement, with fake photos. It's very transparent, if you do any of your own fact checking. But a lot of lazy people who think they're very smart check 1 page of Google search results and Snopes, and pat themselves on the back for their due diligence. "Smart" people read the New York Times, which is to say, they're not really very smart. NYT has gone from left-wing paper of record to left-wing tabloid.

THEN we'd start hearing the mealy-mouthed bastards crying about "due process" and "innocent until proven guilty." Until the Right lowers itself to their level, this won't change. But Republicans end up winning, because the patent unfairness and illogic of the Left is going to cost them the next 2 or 3 (or 4) elections. They'll grow a brain or they'll lose.   30.  @patrickreville4978  I don't mind a roads tax if it goes to the roads and is well-spent. I think that the property tax is a major funder of the failed public schools. We could do better (and cheaper) for ourselves, if it weren't for that tax-subsidized monopoly that the government has on education. There's still a place for public education of the indigent, but the vast majority of people should buy their kids' education the same way they buy them food, clothing and shelter. At the very least, there should be an open competition for the money spent, per pupil, by the current system. I bet kids would learn a lot more and for the amount spent on the public schools, already, there would be a lot of profit for a well-run school with high standards.

  42. Same deal with doctors, only worse, dating back to the 1970s. Free medical for everyone! Then they run out of money, and stop paying doctors. In the '70s, you couldn't find a male doctor. Nurses would kind of become pseudo-doctors, because what the Soviets PAID doctors wasn't worth giving up 8 years of your life for the training. When asked, doctors in Soviet Russia stated they would prefer to be farmers, because the state took good care of farmers (at the expense of, for instance, doctors and engineers), because of their ideology which basically put the government in the position of just deciding who does what and what they'll be paid. Even in homogeneous societies (which ours isn't), socialized medicine runs up against limited resources, and government is a TERRIBLE manager. You're guaranteed your health care, but they decide if you're worth curing, and even if you are worth curing, you're going to have to wait in line.

  46. I know a number of lefties who LOVE Snopes, because they win so many arguments by appealing to the authority of Snopes. I always thought it was kind of fishy. And I know you can come out .5 truth value (mixed) for misleading or outright false claims, by looking for a tiniest particle of fact. And come out with mixed/false on an essentially true claim, by looking for the tiniest flag. IDGAF how FB runs their algorithm. I know I'll never be a customer, again, and how they disserve their customers is between them and their dumb-ass customers.
