  1. It's actually advantageous to the company to offer all the frills, because it ends up getting more of the employee's time. They're close to everything they want, so work is like their home away from home. I always kept home and work separate. I might choose to go to lunch or dinner with a co-worker, but that doesn't mean I want to be elbow-to-elbow with ALL my co-workers any more than I have to be! As a worker, I always wanted the institution to pay me more instead of offering me goodies. That's like being an All Pro left tackle making $10 million a year getting a Rolex from the Quarter Back who makes $50 million a year. Seems like a handsome gift, but it in no way offsets the $40 million difference in real pay.
