@patrickreville4978 I don't mind a roads tax if it goes to the roads and is well-spent. I think that the property tax is a major funder of the failed public schools. We could do better (and cheaper) for ourselves, if it weren't for that tax-subsidized monopoly that the government has on education. There's still a place for public education of the indigent, but the vast majority of people should buy their kids' education the same way they buy them food, clothing and shelter. At the very least, there should be an open competition for the money spent, per pupil, by the current system. I bet kids would learn a lot more and for the amount spent on the public schools, already, there would be a lot of profit for a well-run school with high standards.

They're not trying to crush the suburbs. They're just desperate for revenue, like all big-spending governments (local, state and federal). They always run out of other people's money and look for every penny of tax they can wring out of the tax base.
