  4. The Woodlands was a lot of my classmate's first time job during the late 90s to early 00s. As attendance declined quite a few of the employees spoke out against the mistreatment of the dogs there. After they finally completely shut down the track it was reported in local newspapers that there were 80 injuries and 19 dog deaths just within the last 6 months before the track being closed. Now there's an Amazon sorting center where the track used to be that employs over 1,000 people so I wouldn't say that particular track closing down had a negative effect on our local economy. Also they built a fancy new casino a few blocks away from the old track so the gamblers of that area didn't really lose out on anything. It sucks for these small towns that rely solely on that particular industry but you should never put all your eggs in one basket. Keeping up with the times and the interests of the consumer is key in any economy.

  13. I had PPO insurance and was not given proper tests I kept requesting for 3 weeks because my doctor claimed it was just food poisoning. When they finally took the proper tests it came back that I had a life threatening GI infection that was not food poisoning. Since the doctor was gas lighting me for almost a month the symptoms got worse and I ended up in the hospital for a few days. I've been sick for the last year now because of the delay in action even with expensive insurance. I ended up losing my job because I missed too much work because of testing, hospital stays, and sick days which made me lose my insurance. The last few months with no insurance while still dealing with the aftermath of the infection has made the whole process into an even bigger run around. I'm waiting for the new year for my state funded insurance to be activated to get the procedures I need. It's been hard to find work because of my symptoms. Also when a company finds out I have medical issues that require so many appointments they don't call me back even if the interview goes well. I've been denied financial aid to cover medical bills, denied temporary disability, been denied work, and am in a claims battle over my unemployment.

  15. My mostly conservative family doesn't want anything to do with MAGA after my aunt started showing up to family functions in tears about whatever Q rabbit hole she was going down. They saw how trolls were taking advantage of my aunt who already had mental illness issues and didn't want anything to do with a party that took advantage of people with mental illness.

  30. When I was a teenager my friend brought me to his preacher grandpa's Pentecostal church without explaining to me what happened during the sermons. My friend and I smoked a blunt before going to the church. They didn't have the snakes but people were talking in tongues, rolling around the floor, running around in circles, and damn near breakdancing. A few people got on the stage and told stories about seeing Jesus in their house late at night which sounded like some broke in their houses and robbed them. They were all super excited for a big trip to Israel they had coming up. When the service ended the entire congregation snapped out of their trance like psychosis. Then everyone went to my buddy's grandpa's place for lunch. The food was really good. The whole day was quite the experience but it would have been on another level if they brought the snakes out.
