God insists that he appears only to a handful of people throughout time, and insist that we interpreted his previous revelation wrongly or changed it. Then why even bother when no human can interpret his words accurately?

She started with what I wanted an answer for. I love this. Even as an exmuslim, I struggle explaining that I don't mind my family still being religious and I still love them. It's an obvious thing, and I am glad to see other ex-Muslims do the same.

I've been juggling very similar thoughts recently as well. I agree with the evolutionary roots of religion. We weren't this decadent in our entire evolutionary history, so it can be hard to empathize with our ancestors that lived in a crueler world, where they had no clue if they were eating tomorrow. As we got more of our basic needs covered, with the agricultural revolution, we ended up with more stable lives, and more time to think of our existence, and our lives, and then met with the nihilist nature of this world that we would not cope with, and thus made up reasons and answers.

Yeah, I am having the same issue. Most comments saying the same thing appear to be new. Perhaps this was meant to be released earlier for patrons only, and youtube is screwing up?

Bugs and small critters evolved to eat plant sperm. That makes me feel disgusted.

It seems to me that the most honest answer is an agnostic answer. We just don’t know why. Perhaps we won’t know in our lifetime either. Nothing makes our generation special from the past thousands of generations. However, it is a fact that the universe exists and we exist in it, so just make of it as you can.

Good to see you kick back quickly after you suffered a death in the family.

You don't get it, Stephen, the flat earth LOVES me!

I refuse to believe someone is this dense. What are their sources of funding?

@FendiYT Stop worshiping a book written by ignorant primitives thousands of years ago. They were just lost, hopeless, and confused about their existence, and wanted answers.

I think no matter what we do, this is something we evolved with because it helped us survive. Being accepted and part of our group. We are also too emotional. We can mitigate it as much as we can, but I am afraid it might be impossible to eliminate due to our evolved psyche.

Jordan Peterson went through a lot. I am worried about his mental health more now than before. Even before he fell sick, he would get emotional on stage a lot.

I hate people who do this, like Harris. They are making a new religion.

@FCPaufUror Yeah, I know. I still agree with my statement.

Scientists would probably discover some evidence for something. Theists would disregard it as against the Bible. As the evidence piles up and the public begins to accept it more, they'll start leaving religion because it claims otherwise. Some members of the public who are still theists would try and integrate it into the Bible. As that take becomes more mainstream among theists, new or the same apologists would start integrating it into their arguments.

Evolution by natural selection being accepted by most scientists, and not accepted by most of the public, globally speaking, is one of the evidence I use to postulate that the Bible is actually talking about a flat Earth when talking about corners and has not been always taken figuratively, and despite that even some ancient Greeks measured the circumfrenece of the Earth, I think for most of history, people believed the earth was flat.

@rationalityrules They finally got a breather responding to an Islamic video rather than one of theirs, lol.

I've had Christians claim to me that the reason Christianity changed so much, like with slavery, isn't because god was unclear, but that "dogma is what remains the same, and theological process is how we discover god's will." What a big mess theist rationale is. So much coping to grasp on illogical ancient Jewish bronze-age mythology under the false impression that they might have known more about the universe than we do today.

I understand why Muslims conflate Islam with Islamists. It's the same reasoning some Christians have to Bible law. They think it is the "perfect" political system because it was revealed by god, the infallible. This is one reason. The historical reason is that Islamists stood as a third position in Islamic countries during the cold war against liberal capitalism and atheistic communism. This led to most countries in the Islamic world being led by Islamists. It didn't even take hold until the 60s and 70s. My mom used to tell me how women used to walk around with shorts and other "revealing " clothes. The US, unfortunately, helped them take hold because of oil and also because they were against "godless" communism. It's a shame that the Western world is now propping itself as against what it once supported just because it is no longer politically useful. It feels like we were exploited even though we had renovating secular and liberal movements in the early 20th century, but they also were "commies" so they "had to be crushed".

They could be motivated by other reasons, beyond even their comprehension. Motives like self-interest for their own offspring survival, and self-righteousness. It's irrational but feeds their self-esteem, so they just seek it like how an animal would seek pleasures.

Nah, man. Christians now are tolerant of gays. They've progressed, hence they never did that. It's all in your imagination that Christians hated gays.

Insulate Britain and Extinction Rebellion are a great example of how extremists of any ideology can pop up.

He has religious conclusions, and secular justifications. ;)
