Depending on the city, public transport could be hard to use to get around with. Especially if you need to get somewhere on time. The cost that really makes cars worth it for people is mostly time. It is way faster to get anywhere with my own car than any other method, with less planning ahead. The convenience of being able to go anywhere at any time is worth it for most people, even if it is expensive. Ideally, people would be rational and consider their daily commutes and needs before buying a car, but people are not rational, and the convenience of knowing they could get anywhere at any time is more than enough for them to spend tons of money on a car.

Windows is the legacy OS we only have to keep around because everything built decades ago only works on it, and we're stuck with it.

One thing I learned from this video is that patents should be illegal.

Really makes me wonder how the world would look like now if the government didn't build roads and instead was something private individuals had to do. Lol.

I don't think governments are clueless to the costs, but it really makes me wonder about the overall economic benefit vs cost of this infrastructure. It must have helped speed up and build up the economy having this infrastructure in place. Getting goods delivered from the rural parts of the country to individual shops and businesses spread throughout the city for example. I think it is more of a situation where the alternative would be very costly to implement now and governments would have to rethink and redesign cities from the bottom up. There are definitely some hidden that would be worth it, but I'd have to look up data to support it. Something outside the scope of personal car usage. Workers getting from home, to work, and then somewhere to spend their money is where I'd look at first for data to support this idea. Would be a cool topic for a video, tbh.

The replacement average is an average. I think you'll find the hardon fans that replace their phones every year, and those can skew the number. Most people I know replace their phones maybe after 5-4 years when the battery barely functions.
