@KevinBalch-dt8ot ?? Does the US have a competitive attitude and capability when it comes to nuclear power? No and No. But China does.

@Meton2526 I heard "nuclear" was a glorified razor blade business. Give them the plant, sell them the fuel.

@Meton2526 The problem is the West is distracted with this stupid renewable energy cr*p and doesn't not have a competitive economic attitude or spirit. (And only 35% of NYC public school graduates can do math at grade level. The Chinese know this and laugh.)

@Meton2526 Have you watched the long Kirk Sorenson video on Thorium, PWRs (Pressurized Water Reactors) vs. molten salt, etc. ? ("burning dirt" vs. "burning platinum"?)
1
@Meton2526 As of June 2023, the price of low-enriched uranium (LEU) was $2,700 per kilogram, A 1-gigawatt nuclear power plant can require around 27 tonnes of uranium fuel each year, 27 tonnes x 1000 kg/tonne x $2700/kg LEU = 72.9 million U.S. dollars
1
@Meton2526 How about NATURAL uranium at ~$50 a pound?
1
@Meton2526 Kirk Sorenson talks a lot about the simpler/cheaper machinery needed in a molten salt reactor -- no high pressure water, no water at all, not much of a containment vessel.

@janus3555 East Asians k--- our a-- in everything that involves work. Do you know Temu? Do you know any Americans that could come close to producing that AT ALL, let alone competitively priced from 12,000 miles away?

@SuperDrake85 There are youtubes that say they have working pebble bed and thorium molten salt reactors up and running.
