The 2CV is to cars what BREAD is food -- it is the baseline. Let's get it back into production and make it one of the world's transportation options.

@blaster-zy7xx I disagree. There are millions of people for whom this is a credible cheap transportation option. "More" in your frame of reference is past the point of diminishing returns, i.e., not necessary. The 2CV is sufficient transportation for millions.

@blaster-zy7xx The 2CV is not in production because of stupid emission/safety/mileage regulations. Without those, they could still be bought today and millions of people would have that as a transportation option. We can sidestep the EPA/DOT/DOE garbage by getting it designed as a motorcycle. PS: yes, the Beetle belongs back in production too, but "first things first". 2CV is the easiest and cheapest. The 2CV is to cars what BREAD is food -- it is the baseline.

At min 4:20, what does "resistance decreases" mean when talking about the crankshaft?

@briancarton1804 Firstly, I'm thinking of Argentina: - they used to make them there, - 40% of the population is poor and need jobs, - if it can be made cheaply enough, it could be competitive in markets like that. Secondly, they are so simple they can be made on an "artisanal" basis, i.e., they come in kits. That's what I hear Iran did. Sounds like a great way to get started.

@briancarton1804 Artisanal? All those motorcycle- countries of Asia and Africa? The Beetle is 1/3 heavier and 2x the cc's Somewhere "in there" is room for the 2cv as an option. (Provided governments don't kill it with regulation.)

@briancarton1804 Argentina: The negative arguments you make are actually positive ones: - Argentina has a lot of poor people; poor people need cheap cars. - Poor people need a lot of simple jobs to get back on their feet: making 2CVs could contribute. "Poor people making cheap cars for poor people."

@briancarton1804 Yes, I bet you do.
