  5.  @Heerwrites390  By the time of Islam, the spherical shape of Earth and a close approximation of its size had been known for half a millennium, and a man living in Arabia didn't need to read Greek to know that, especially one making a living by trading goods fare and vide. (I think that was known, maybe even independently, in both India and China by then.) As for the stability and integrity of the text, you really need to widen your scope of study from apologists and propagandists. Written Arabic was in its infancy during Mohammed's time, and the preservation of information in oral societies values themes and the morals of stories more than absolute fidelity. None of the writings from the time of Mohammed are known to survive, and none of those Qurans claimed to be from the first standardization effort can be proven to be that old. Ä They don't agree with each other, and they contain numerous alterations, corrections, and substitutions of entire lines. And the standardization of the text, with all consonants(?), dialects, punctuations, etc., wasn't agreed upon until the 1920s. The Cairo text, I think it's called. Anyway, I'm not convinced of the claims made by the Quran or by Muslims about the Quran, and at this point, I can't imagine what would convince me. Certainly not any threats, about hell or otherwise. And since you are committed to a community that has a death sentence for too much free thought, I doubt you will attempt to look up any but the approved sources of information. Take care.
