Dr Telepun, We definitely experienced a temperature drop at our location north of Sparta TN. I did not have a temperature logger, but my wife felt a great relief as C2 approached. It was probably in the mid 90s at C1 and felt like at least 10 degrees drop during totality. I was busy enjoying the experience with my children and grandchildren and didn't let the heat bother me. She however had to stay under our pop-up canopy until just before totality. I agree with you on the heat of the day affecting your temp logger. We were in a grass field too and the field had all morning to heat up. I don't recall much of a breeze. You mentioned using tin foil to help block the heat rays coming from the ground. How much separation do you think is needed between the foil and the sensor? You want good air flow on all sides, right? Do those little thermachron sensors store the data so you don't need to connect it to a computer until later on? By the way, I'm glad you included some still shots of your setup. I learned from seeing those too. Thanks a lot.
