  1. I've been on most of those roads (on a couple road trips I've taken in the California/Nevada area). He most likely went down 395 --- which, contrary to what this video shows, is mostly in California --- and then took a right on either Highway 178 (the "long, windy road" he was talking about) or 58 (a double-lane highway that I've done 95-100 mph on before) into Bakersfield, then drove I-5 all the way up to 580 and into the Bay Area. That is a loooong detour. One might ask why he didn't just take the north route into Susanville, but I imagine it's because that too was blocked off (either road closures or traffic that was just as awful), in which case I would try going up even further on 395 into Alturas and take 299 down to Redding and then south (which I have also done, albeit in the opposite direction) before doing what he just did if I were him. That commute is just insane. It's a good way to not get any sleep, but hey, at least you get to do some sightseeing along the way. 🤷‍♂️

  3. I'm not sure if you know this, but California is currently in a drought. We need as much snowpack as we can get.
