I've fallen down the stairs before. Several years ago, I was staying at a three-story cabin with about two dozen other people near Lake Tahoe, and we were playing a game called "Assassin" (it's like Among Us but without tasks). It was nighttime and extremely dark (as all the lights were turned off), and I was walking down the hallway on the top floor. I turned the corner thinking I was going to step into a bedroom, and, not anticipating the drop, I fell all the way down a flight of stairs. Fortunately I was young and healthy (it was a cross country camp after all), so I handled it pretty well. Those rug burns sure as hell ain't fun, though.
