@lostboy3080 Well, I'm not so sure the first part is true, namely, that other countries don't have people who struggle with mental health (just look at Japan). Maybe not so much in other places as here, though. However, the second claim is DEFINITELY accurate -- this country is one of the easiest countries in the WORLD in which to access firearms, let alone among developed nations.

@DoSe420 That's an absurd argument. Imagine if civilians had access to nuclear or chemical weapons. If they're always in the hands of "the right people," there would be nothing to fear, right?! We could just pass laws (mental health services, background checks, etc.) to mitigate the risk of a weapon of mass destruction falling into the wrong hands. But would you accept the risk of your entire city/town being wiped off the map for some perverted conception of "freedom"? I challenge you to sincerely argue that the better solution in this scenario is not to just prohibit civilian possession of WMD's outright. It's the exact same argument with respect to firearms (unlike cars, knives, etc., they have no purpose other than to KILL), albeit on a smaller scale. The rest of the industrialized world recognized this long ago -- why haven't we?!!

@tylerstewart3181 Offer incentives. No driver's license if you have a gun. No Medicare or Social Security either. Choose not to comply with a government mandate? Fine. You lose all access to government services. You can't have your cake and eat it, too.
