The guy put himself in this situation. It wasn't HIS business or HIS house that he was "defending." He brought a military-grade rifle into a crowd of angry protestors, what did he think was going to happen?! Now, did the people who attacked him do something wrong? Unquestionably, but all of this could have been avoided if he didn't bring it upon himself, at the juvenile age of 17, as neither a certified EMT or policeman, to maintain "law and order." Still, I think 65 years is a little much, but a manslaughter charge or two I think would be more than fair for this kind of recklessness.
