  1.  Brainjock  The media began pushing their anti-Joker movie narrative before there were any such "credible threats" on platforms such as 4chan. They didn't do this with other recent movies featuring white guys slaughtering people (John Wick 3 and Rambo: Last Blood to name a few).

  2.  Brainjock  Usually it's to express some form of hatred or discontent with society. Still though, walking into a public place such as a movie theater and shooting at random people requires one to be very mentally unstable to begin with, to the point of being diagnosed as mentally ill. That still doesn't justify the media spreading mass hysteria over a damn movie, which in no way was intended to influence people into acting like this.
