  1. I'm a leftie progressive, and I would ONE HUNDRED PERCENT support the homeowner if he or she shot and k*lled one of these thugs in self-defense. That is, in fact, probably the best way to respond in this situation (if disarming them isn't an option). However, I am also of the opinion that the best way to address this type of crime is simply to drastically strengthen firearms legislation, up to and including confiscation -- it seems to work pretty well in Canada, South Korea, Japan, and the entirety of Europe.
