If I'm not pulled over or parked somewhere (which technically isn't driving), I only text in two situations: a) if I'm stuck at a stoplight and I know I have a few seconds to do so, or b) if I'm stuck at a long train. Otherwise, I'll pick up my phone for between 3 and 7 seconds periodically to change music, but only when I assume it's safe (like on a farm road with a sizable following distance from the person in front of me).

@barkYdarkATFB I agree, but I'm counting it as combined time not necessarily all at once. I usually alternate between my phone and the road even if I feel particularly safe. And I have Android, so I would have to ask Google. Since I gave up on Google Play Music a while ago, I've been using an offline music app where I can listen to all my downloaded songs (from CD's I own) rather than streaming them (higher quality, ad and subscription-free).
