Stimulus money is great, but I wish we were able to get essential medical care or go to university without bankrupting ourselves. Perhaps we should work on that first before considering the UBI option.

@abby54 Congratulations, you're deluded. Until god comes down and sucks me dry, he is not receiving any worship or "love" from me. But that'll never happen, because he doesn't exist, and he can't exist. At least, not with the qualities you have attributed to him.

@petergoldvain We can definitely raise enough money to provide free college tuition for all our students. It should be thought of the same way we think about high school. A degree is essential in today's economy, and the fact that some people have to put themselves a quarter of a million dollars in debt to be a doctor is absurd. Only the rich can afford to take the highest-paying positions, which greatly hinders upward social mobility. So allowing the gifted youth who happen to be from a poor background to attend a university of their caliber would actually stimulate the economy and fulfill the American dream. If Germany can do it, so can we. We just need to put forth a fraction of what's in our military budget. Let's stop spending money on ways to k*ll one another and put it towards education. And regarding loan forgiveness, perhaps the government is capable of paying off 20% and capping the interest rates at 1%. That should give most people a chance to crawl out of the hole, so to speak.

@zorinl9249 Nope. I'm from California. We have to pay for health insurance here too, and even then not all expenses are covered. It's insane. It's like a 3rd-world country.

@zorinl9249 Yet the majority of people here rely on their employer's health insurance. Which means if they lose their job, they're screwed. This system is so far from optimized it's not even funny.

@zorinl9249 That's what Medicare-for-All is for. The fact that we don't have a single-payer nationalized healthcare system in place already is a disgrace.

@abby54 Psst, by the way, if your god is so "perfect," and "omniscient," how did he create Satan? Aren't all angels supposed to be direct extensions of himself? Guess he has an evil side, doesn't he? (Which, let's be real, is plainly obvious just by thumbing through the Old Testament. Such a being is not worthy of anyone's reverence.)

@abby54 You didn't answer the question. So your "perfect" god is responsible for Satan then? And all the evil in the world? And children who die of cancer and starvation, and from natural disasters. This is who you choose to worship? I've been fortunate enough not to be raised in Yemen, where the majority of the population is at risk of starvation. Who do I have to thank for that? Certainly no fairy in the sky would would permit such suffering. I would thank my country and my parents, surely, but no one else. And by the way, my parents created me. Life started as a rudimentary self-replicating organic molecule and gradually evolved through natural selection. The molecule started on Earth, which itself is made of stardust, which came from a cooling universe following the Big Bang, which itself came out of nothing. So there is no god. And Jesus wasn't the savior of mankind. The fact that someone else can die for a person's transgressions is an utterly immoral concept. It means, literally, than a prisoner on death row can go to heaven via a last-minute conversion whereas a Hindu in India, never having harmed anyone in his life, will suffer eternal torment. If your "god" is real, I don't appreciate these games he's playing with the human race, so he can go to hell. And so can you.
