  1. The 2nd Amendment explicitly states that guns were intended to be used by a militia, not by the ordinary American. The ordinary American can enlist in a militia, and hence the reason why it says "the people" have the right to bear arms. But if you don't belong to one, like the National Guard, there is no reason you need to keep a semi-automatic rifle for protection. It's absurd.
