Why would they want to ally with a country that invaded a sovereign nation halfway around the world unprovoked just to jack their oil (Iraq), continued occupying a foreign territory for a decade after the mission was completed (Afghanistan), funds paramilitary groups and radical genocidal separatists and dictators (as in Latin America), and supports apartheid states with massive human rights violations (Israel)? Compared to the U.S., Russia must look like a saint --- leaving aside domestic policy, of course.
