But if you compare donations with total net worth, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that ordinary middle-class Americans donate FAR more than many of the wealthiest people (excluding Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, who seem to get the idea of "effective altruism," or having a moral obligation to donate your wealth to feeding the less fortunate).
