  2. It was directed at the state militia actually. It's written right into it: "A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state..." The national defense is a separate entity. But you're on the right track.

  6.  @majorpwner241  Where? Where did they say that? If they wanted everyone to have a gun, why did they include the "a well-regulated militia" part at all? Why not just say "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" and leave it at that? The only explanation is that militias are comprised of the people, so in theory anyone can enlist in one and have the right to a firearm. I need a definition of "militia" that isn't simply what we say it is today (a state-recognized entity organized in much the same way as the military, such as the National Guard), but rather a rag-tag group of people who aren't members of any formal group and who could theoretically ally with one another to "spontaneously" form an entity such as a militia.

  7.  @majorpwner241  The Supreme Court gets it wrong sometimes. Case in point: Dred Scott v. Sanford. You can throw Plessy v. Ferguson in there as well. I'm also willing to bet you think Roe v. Wade was an incorrect decision. D.C. v. Heller can, and probably will, be overturned.

  8. The U.S. has more guns per capita than any country in the world. The only one that even comes close is Yemen, and they're not doing so well either. It's no surprise, then, that we also have the highest rates (i.e. percentages, not raw numbers) of gun violence than any other developed country on Earth. Your "freedom" comes at a price. Europe, especially the states that are majority secular, does not have this problem. We're the laughing stock of developed world.
