  1. This is an important step. For all of you uneducated swine out there who want to abolish the electoral college ENTIRELY, our country is organized as a republic, NOT a democracy. A true democracy would have the popular vote determine the President of the United States. In a republic, each state has its own election for the President and whoever wins gets some or all of the "electoral votes" belonging to that particular state. The number of votes are determined by the amount of Representatives coming from each state (based on the state's population) plus the number of Senators, which is always 2. Totaling this up brings us to 538 electoral votes, and winning a majority means winning the election. Hence the "Race to 270," for those who can do math. Now the next step I want to see them take is allowing the President with a plurality of votes to win the Presidency so the smaller third parties have a chance at leading the nation as well.
