  2. Is the guy still a menace to society? Not if he's stuck in prison. Is there any chance he'll escape? No. Did he commit this out of his own free will? Almost certainly not, because free will isn't logically consistent nor empirically verified as a concept. I cannot honestly say I have sympathy for the man, but I think he will be better served if he dies in a prison cell. You know, like they do to the worst offenders in every other modernized society on the planet...
