Oh my God I have to stop watching this stupid video... I'm a supporter of gay rights but once the reporter brought up "microaggressions" I just couldn't listen any more. Why do we act like this is some systemic attack on victimized groups? It's UNINTENTIONAL! Grow some thicker skin people!

@remplidefeux Children are impressionable, I get that. No your comment did not come off as sappy to me, so no worries there. But there's an obvious difference between how kids may internalize something and how adults may internalize and react to it. Kids are sponges, they soak up information (sometimes from their peers but especially from adults) and once you tell them a lie it can be tough to teach them the truth, as I'm sure you're well aware. Adults, on the other hand, I would expect to have some thicker skin and independent thought. Asking for an end to microaggressions is quite literally asking for the impossible. People will always have their biases, and they will be revealed in what they say or do. That's just a fact of life. All we can ask for is that they keep their conscious under control, but subconscious mistakes are bound to happen. Hence why I think LGBT's and other groups are taken their victim status too far when they demand that people keep a tab on their own subconscious behavior. Like really, go find something else to complain about.

Sally Vee Teens are a gray area. You're supposed to grow into a mature adult, and mature adults need to be able to brush off insults or snide comments. Nobody lives in a bubble where they're completely protected from adversity, so "offensive" things are BOUND to be said. The offensive remark isn't what's important, it's how you react to it.

Sally Vee "Pause"? What is meant by "pause"? These communities have had PLENTY of time in the spotlight. The media gives them a voice ALL YEAR LONG. Why then does "pause" need to be taken? You don't like what someone said about you, SHAKE IT OFF. There's a several thousand-year-old book that many people FIRMLY devote their lives to that may be impacting their judgement. Respect their opinions, and hopefully they respect yours. Don't try to change them, it's never gonna happen. Not when it's written so plainly and it's so widespread. Hopefully we can still get along as human beings.

Sally Vee The news networks. ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC all CONSTANTLY give these people a chance to speak on their show. And no, you are factually incorrect about the discrimination. The Supreme Court ruled that LGBT rights are protected under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Apparently you are someone who either doesn't do your research or keep up at an adequate level with current events. I don't experience extreme privelege. As a matter of fact, my sexuality never comes up in my conversations at work, school, household or anywhere else EVER. It would not matter who I liked or didn't like, because NOBODY CARES WHAT MY SEXUALITY IS. That's the point. And obviously I'm not transgender either, but I COULDN'T CARE LESS about the issues "transgender" people face for one simple reason: if you are biologically XX and you claim that you're a male (or vice versa), you have a MENTAL DISORDER. It is THAT simple.
