Just imagine if Christians did this... Not even Republicans would be defending them. Yet we have liberal elites here in the U.S. who will label you "racist" and "Islamophobic" if you even suggest that their ideology had anything to do with it.

@dynodyno6970 Islam is an extremely misogynistic religion. They literally put women to death for cheating or their husbands or losing their virginity before marriage. Not to mention the long history of FGM, making them cover their entire face, and just recently allowing them to drive a car with a male escort. It's an alt-rightist's wet dream.

Mauricio93201 Um no they wouldn't. Do you have any idea what the media would say if a mainstream conservative defended that? It would ruin their entire career (Megyn Kelly was canceled for much less). You can't speak out like that anymore if you're on the right. But if you're on the left, you can tell a Black man how he's supposed to vote (Chelsea Handler and 50 Cent). Good luck getting away with that if the allegiances were reversed.

@OlderG0ds I know. That's the point I'm trying to make. This is why I admire atheists like Sam Harris and Richard Dawkins because, even though they are liberal, they are unafraid to say that some religious ideologies are more harmful than others.

@angelvaldez8433 Correction: the KKK were Christian. The KKK is no longer relevant, and haven't been since the '60's. Also, all politicians and mainstream pundits on the right, including out current President, have condemned them numerous times (again, even though they're absolutely irrelevant).

@ZAYNNNNN. All those things were wrong, there is no denying that. However, for the time period, none of that was uncommon. Europe did it more than anyone else (except for maybe the Mongols), but conquest/imperialism/colonialism wasn't seen as "immoral" at the time. However, we know that killing innocent bystanders and flying commercial jets into packed buildings are wrong in today's society, yet look at who continues to do it... It isn't the old Imperialists. We need to focus on the issues of today, not of yesterday.

@garylake3519 That would be the Spanish. And they did it in the name of their twisted religion: Christianity. If this comment proves anything, its that religion hasn't been a very positive force on the world.

@ZAYNNNNN. True there is a lot of corruption going on. Sometimes the intentions are good and sometimes they are more self-serving. But this pales in comparison to the horrors of European colonization/slave trade and modern-day terrorism. The latter is a much bigger threat to people's lives than some shady business in the government.

@ZAYNNNNN. Also, some of these "coups" happen in response to terrorism or other human rights abuses. The Assad regime gassing his own people in Syria is a good example. But when they are successful, they take the natural resources of the country, not its people. Actually, France and Germany have accepted thousands of Syrian refugees, which is why they're in the situation they are right now.
