I'm a California pro-vax liberal who got my 2 doses of Pfizer done way back in early May, and even I'm iffy about boosters for adults who aren't high-risk (elderly, immunocompromised, comorbidities, etc.). I'm going to wait and see the data on how long immunity lasts before I make up my mind. I'm almost certain side effects won't be an issue (no one who isn't allergic is dying from the mRNA vaccines), but I'm not taking the time out of my day (let alone another sore arm, I just got my flu shot done last month) until I know that it's necessary. I think it's more important that we get those folks who haven't taken the vaccine to receive their first dose than it is for perfectly healthy 21-year-olds like me to get a third. And that doesn't just mean here in the United States; there are billions of people around the world who have yet to benefit from modern technology and would sure as hell like to. Let's focus on them first before we worry about people like me, because that's how we will save the most people from succumbing to this awful virus.

Well it's already saved over 100,000 lives (including my grandmother's I'm sure, she's not in very good shape), so even if that is a direct quote (and I honestly doubt it is) he was only exaggerating. Of course he didn't mean to say that the vaccine is 100% effective (especially against the Delta variant), but if telling people that their lives are statistically infinitely more likely to be saved getting the vaccine, I don't see the harm in it. 700,000+ lives lost, millions suffering from long-term symptoms (chronic fatigue, brain fog, higher risk of blood clots, reduced lung capacity, loss of sense of taste and smell, etc.), I'll take my chances with the vaccine over the virus any day, thank you very much.

^^^ That is the textbook case of sticking your foot in your mouth if I ever saw one. The only reason to exclude it from the list of idioms in the dictionary is that a necessary requirement is the individual who made the statement has to feel regret, and it doesn't qualify even if the entire rest of the world thinks you shouldn't have said it.
