Beyond following the law, as a parent you don't get to decide what a child does with his or her body. It's their choice, as they have a right to bodily autonomy. Exceptions apply only in medical emergencies, wherein a minor isn't legally (or often mentally) capable of making important decisions like wisdom teeth removal, surgery, etc. Unless it's sitting inside the womb, you do not OWN the body of your child. The world would be eradicated of much suffering if this principle was enforced.

@ullerivas2755 Bodily automony is not an all-or-nothing affair. That's a fallacy. In the case of children, there are exceptions for medical reasons. The whole principle doesn't have be thrown out just for that. It's still wrong for a parent to permanently harm their children by injuring them. Without a right to bodily automony (albeit a more restricted form), this would hardly be considered objectionable. It still matters whether this right applies to children, even when we allow certain exemptions for health purposes.
