I can't believe no Democrat voted for Amy Coney Barrett. Kavanaugh I can understand, because r*pe allegations are not something to be taken lightly (as Justice Clarence Thomas knows all too well). I suspect that it was more a protest of the process rather than the nominee herself. After all, these are the same Republicans who promised NOT to hold a hearing for a judge on an election year, let alone FIFTY DAYS before an election. They held up Merrick Garland for almost eleven months, and then rushed their guy through last minute four years later. In any other circumstance (not less than two months before an election, non-COVID), Justice Barrett would have breezed her way through nomination. There is no doubt in my mind about that. At the same time, there is nothing you can say to convince me that these people (Republicans) are not obstructionists. Nevertheless, I'm glad to see Senator Collins doing the right thing.
