Well guess what: In a de-armed society, there would be no need to defend oneself against such a threat, because it simply wouldn't exist. This is the case in Japan, Norway, Denmark, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, South Korea, and over a dozen other developed countries I could name.
