  1. Is this judge a moron?!! TWO of the purposes of incarceration, at least, would be served in this case. She is DEAD WRONG about deterrence --- she (correctly) observes that specific deterrence will not serve much of a purpose, but she utterly NEGLECTS to take into consideration general deterrence, which would demonstrate to other police officers that reckless behavior resulting in the loss of life will NOT be tolerated. Of course, the family of the victim also deserves some closure, which is where retribution comes in. This judge has made it clear to the entire world that she lacks even a rudimentary understanding of how the legal system functions. I'm a f-ckin' college student who's taking a philosophy and a law course, and I know more about how justice works than she does!! This is the most grotesque display of incompetence I have ever seen from a court official. And don't even get me started on what could be done from a restorative justice standpoint. Revoke her license to practice law, NOW!!!!
