@cliffknighton240 Personal freedom is great... so long as what you're doing doesn't affect ME or MY rights. If what you are doing is truly victimless, then you should have a right to do it. Period. Seatbelt laws are authoritarian when you are driving by yourself. Similarly, if you're on an empty highway, and you want to go 200 mph, I say knock yourself out. You can only harm yourself --- and under no circumstances should that be against the law. Obviously, if others are in the car with you, and they don't consent to your reckless behavior, then that is a different situation. If we even had a modicum of freedom on our highways here in the U.S.A., then a lot of our low-traffic roads would function like the Autobahn in Germany. It only becomes the government's business to interfere when you put other's lives in danger, not your own.
