This whole mess was absolutely unnecessary. None of this would have happened if the outdated and wildly unsuccessful War on Drugs had been terminated already. So far, the only candidate on the ballot I know of calling for an end to this madness is Dr. Jo Jorgensen. This country is screwed.

@ianwalton284 Yes I do want it legalized. You know why? Because Breonna Taylor's death should have NEVER happened. You know what her crime was? Distributing WEED. We're not even talking about hard-core drugs here that can actually KILL you like meth or heroine. Nope, just old fashioned marijuana. This has gotten out of control. THIS is what Black Lives Matter should be protesting. And if they were, I would be out there on the streets joining them RIGHT NOW. But they want to abolish the police, the nuclear family, and instill Marxist values. I can't get on board with that, because those aren't solutions that will work. If we legalize ALL drugs, and make it so that anyone who has had a substance detected in their system (indicating addiction) can obtain them LEGALLY (and exclusively them), then the black market will be DESTROYED. You know why? Because the prices for the LEGAL equivalent will be MUCH lower and, yep, LEGAL. Therefore, no one will have to ROB, STEAL, and KILL to get their fix. It's unfortunate that these people are addicted in the first place, but right now there is an INCENTIVE to get CHILDREN hooked on illegal drugs. If it was legalized the incentive would DISAPPEAR because the black market would be crushed. Therefore, in the long run, by making them "quasi-legal," we are able to REDUCE the number of people who are addicted. Health professionals and pharmacists can also prepare them with absolute precision, and can administer and prescribe them safely to prevent overdoses. It's a win-win situation. However, we must continue to hold Big Pharma like Purdue accountable for getting so many people addicted in the first place. That should have never happened, and we need to take steps to ensure that history doesn't repeat itself.

@michaelangeloevans2722 Correction: Kenneth Walker was wanted for violent crimes. Breonna had NOTHING to do with that. Oh, and what did the police knock on her door for? Was it the homicide victim found in the trunk of a car she rented? NOPE, it was a DRUG raid. And guess what they found when it was all over? NOTHING. An absolute WASTE of time and human life. The marijuana she distributed would have killed absolutely NO ONE, but she lost her life on the altar of war on substances SAFER than alcohol and tobacco. Does that sound fair? If it does, I suggest you check in with a psychiatrist or wait until the effect of whatever substances you're consuming wear off and come back to read this comment. This is nothing short of OUTRAGEOUS.

@whyhatestrangers Yes, they knocked. They had a no-knock warrant, but chose to knock anyway because the raid was considered low-risk. If they had actually fulfilled the no-knock properly, with a full SWAT team (instead of just the three who went in), Breonna and her boyfriend would have had no time to react. There is a 99.999% chance that Breonna would still be alive today. Still doesn't make it right, because I don't think ANYONE should go to jail for distributing marijuana, but the outcome would be better.

@vinnidavinci3932 So? The police had a warrant for DRUGS, and nothing else. It is true that she stashed money away for her ex-boyfriend, but that isn't the point. The police went in there looking for DRUGS not money, and found NONE. And by the way, this money was earned from SELLING those drugs, so even if it was in any way relevant to what happened it still wouldn't matter because marijuana should be LEGAL!!!

Earth will continue to exist for billions of years before it is finally eaten up by the Sun, and the universe has another trillion years or so before it tears itself apart and the last black holes slowly die out. We were born from nothing, and we will all eventually become nothing. Thus is the way of nature according to the law of entropy. If you think a "creator" cared AT ALL about how humans have sex in a universe that's 26 billion light years across, I hate to tell you but you're wrong. @NORTHBROOK1978 Pay for what? The crack? No of course not, the pharmacy will make a profit at a much lower price because they don't have to smuggle it in. They can sell it like any other drug, and at a reasonable cost.

@NORTHBROOK1978 Yes I know that. Isn't that what I said two comments ago? That they won't have to steal to get their fix anymore because the prices will be so low? And if they DO have to steal to pay for a drug that is now 1/10th the cost it used to be, their asses can get locked up and rehabilitated. Either find a job or another source of income and enjoy your time off, OR get locked up for stealing other people's property, robbing them, or worse. That isn't cracking down on drugs, that's cracking down on crime.
