Anthony Egidio Correct, they don't have the right to detain you and interrupt your day if they don't have reason ("probable cause") to suspect that you did anything wrong. I think we are all in agreement on this. However, this is not a fight that can be won during the arresting process. If you feel that you have been improperly detained or arrested, tell it to the judge. Tell the court the truth and let them punish the officer appropriately. A cop will be plenty embarrassed to see that HE is the one charged with a crime, and not his suspect. Wouldn't that be sweet sweet justice to see Mr. Whitey get handed down community service or a fine because he wrongly accused someone of committing a crime? I can't imagine anything more satisfying myself.

@pinkskincanthandlethesunli6508 Tony Timpa wasn't a criminal. He was a man suffering from mental health issues and called the police on himself. Of course, the last thing he expected to happen was for the very same police to then KILL HIM. Some force is needed to restrain a suspect if they pose a threat to the officers, but the police should be well trained enough to know when they've held someone to the ground for too long. It doesn't matter what the person's skin color is, apparently.

D Gh Um, when Daniel Shaver died? When Dylan Noble died? These people died because they disobeyed cop's directions. Of course, most of the time they are either drunk or high off their a** so resisting is not unexpected (same thing with Floyd, he had a large dose of fentanyl in his system). At the same time though, these cops have a reason to fear for their lives. They have no idea if a person's intentions are good or bad. They should be trained to handle these situations carefully, but even then we cannot expect 100% perfection every time. They leave their houses and go to work each and every day not knowing if it will be their last. That goes for cops of ALL skin colors, such as Captain David Dorn. The ones who do their job well deserve as much respect as firefighters and our military men and women, because they are putting their lives on the line to protect people they don't even know.
