  1. I'm fine with reparations and everything, but wasn't California a free state? What the heck do we have to do with this? The Southern states should be the ones paying up the most (but, sadly, they are also the least likely to). This is something to be addressed at the federal level, not in the states --- and least of all one where slavery was outlawed from the very beginning.
