@RyanDottery No, what's even more dangerous is turning right on GREEN, because pedestrians are always allowed to cross in the same direction traffic is moving. Unless you mean crossing the street before the car makes the turn, in which case you should ALWAYS check to make sure that the driver can see you and is stopped before proceeding.

@joaohumbertogomes8051 Well in my state of California, the Governor just signed a bill decriminalizing jaywalking -- something that should have been done a long time ago. You want to save time? Go ahead. But you'll assume all liability, and I mean all -- even the damage your carcass caused to the vehicle that hit you.

@ScramJett I have a similar background. I'm also a California resident who has traveled to Nevada/Oregon/Idaho on road trips (three times to Nevada; you'll be hard-pressed to find a stretch of highway I haven't been on), and from my experience enforcement isn't particularly strict. I've done triple-digits, even maxing out at 121 mph at one point, and never been caught. On my last trip, I had to travel to OREGON to get my first-ever speeding ticket (and then I got a warning 30 minutes later in Idaho for doing 9 mph over). On I-80, I cruised at 90 mph in a 80 mph zone for at least fifty miles. Maybe I've just gotten lucky, I don't know. You can pick up a lot of speed on those desert highways, and safety (either my own or others') was never a concern. Enforcement of speed limits revenue-raising, nothing more.

@randomoneforstuff3696 China is also extremey authoritarian. Literally ANYTHING they do, the world should do the exact opposite.

@MrBibi86 Is that why nurses are striking?

@rjfaber1991 "Wrong" is subjective. Make an argument next time, not a fallacy.

@derpydoughnut115 You walk from the parking lot into the building. How old are you? Five?

@Riplee Ask yourself this -- why shouldn't everyone be able to afford my way of life? Hold down a job, and you should be able to afford at least a basic (electric) vehicle, even on minimum wage. Subsidize them with taxes on the wealthy. Ever consider that possibility? P.S. Concerning those who are unable to drive (e.g. for medical reasons, age, or revocation of license), there should at the very least be sufficient public transportation. But they are by far in the minority.

@asantaraliner Ah yes, car culture is r@cist. Everything is literally black-and-white for you types, isn't it? Any inequality whatsoever must be due to r@cism and nothing else. Get a grip. 🙄

Ever heard of this new technology? It's called "electricity." It will be the power source of transportation for the future -- at least until hydrogen takes over. Cars aren't going anywhere. Cope.
