  1. Got my bets on Top Gun. I saw Everything, Everywhere, All at Once and it does not belong on this list imo, let alone actually winning the award. As for James Cameron, I'm inclined to agree that his best days are behind him, but if Avatar: The Way of Water does not win Best Special Effects, I will spend an entire day dancing on the street in a banana costume. Seriously.

  2. Mostly, yes. I began to notice quality was going downhill after I saw Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Its sequel did not even meet my extremely low expectations. Once in a while, though, there'll be a gem. Maybe no more than two or three per year. Top Gun: Maverick is one of them.
