Edit: As I've learned more about the theory of evolution, I've come to realize that this isn't even close to the most egregious error PragerU made in this video. In fact, they strawman the entire scientifically-proven theory. Which isn't much of a surprise given that it was created by a channel spewing right-wing propaganda.

@everonlyallforthee Prager U usually does a good job of matching their animations to the narration, so I was kind of surprised when I saw them actually make a mistake.

@SynthVoice Pointing out a few factual errors and inconsistencies is not "debunking." To properly debunk, one would have to disprove every claim made in the video or the central premise that every claim operates on. Some Prager U videos are better than others, I'll admit that much, but posting a few misleading videos does not discredit an entire channel.

@IssyFishyy Richard Dawkins is widely regarded as one of the greatest scientists of our time. No one who actually understands evolution has ever rejected it. It's a theory; which translates to a scientifically proven fact (unless it could be proven otherwise). Find me rabbit fossils in the pre-Cambrian and I'll take notice.

But even they realize that evolution has never been discredited by any reputable scientist and is just as sound as Einstein's theory of general relativity. I must admit that I am quite pleasantly surprised by this. Seemingly only the most hard-core nutjobs defend creationism nowadays (e.g Ken Ham), and you're one of them. Congratulations.

@IssyFishyy It's a scientifically proven theory because it has been backed by evidence. And to date, nothing has disproved it or come up with a better explanation. That's a very compelling sign that it indeed points to the truth. If you don't understand it, I suggest you read The Origin of Species or The Greatest Show on Earth. I guarantee you that these authors know more about reality than the flat-earther Bronze Age peasants who wrote that book you take to be literal truth.

@IssyFishyy Clearly you don't know ow the origins of the Bible 🤦‍♂️ Of course Darwin wasn't perfect, he was the revolutionary, the first to propose the idea that was later refined and expanded upon (by Gregor Mendel, for instance). But he got the ball rolling, and was closer to discovering the truth than anyone else at the time. And to date, his model still stands and continues to be vindicated by evidence even in the present day (e.g. by studying the fossil record). Creationism has been thoroughly debunked. The 2nd law of thermodynamics doesn't apply because the Earth isn't a closed system; it gets its energy from the Sun (come on, even 3rd graders know that. You're starting to sound like that dolt Andy McIntosh). Consciousness has yet to be thoroughly explained, but what we do know is that it's a result of a highly developed brain (humans aren't the only ones who have it; monkeys, dogs and dolphins have all been shown to exhibit consciousness). Pretending like it's the result of a "supernatural force" is nothing more than a god-of-the-gaps argument. Sophisticated theologians like William Lane Craig have left that behind entirely because it will most likely close in the near future as scientific progress continues, and your "god" will lose yet another place to hide. Is that all you got?

@IssyFishyy Clearly you don't understand the science. Monekys, dogs, and dolphins DO have consciousness, all it takes is a single Google search and you'll find the evidence to prove it. The fossil record isn't "littered with contradictions," if it was evolution would have been thrown out by now. But the entire scientific community has formed a consensus that evolution is an established fact. I still haven't heard a single argument to prove YOUR case. What do you think happened? Some unknowable being using unknowable means brought everything into existence? That's absolutely the most ridiculous proposal any scientist has ever heard. When we don't understand something, we study it further. We don't just give up and say "God did it." That's called laziness. Yes I will grant you that the fossil record is "incomplete," but that by itself is not evidence against evolution. As a matter of fact, that is to be expected because not every species becomes a fossil! And of course, not every fossil is found yet! So far, there hasn't been a SINGLE instance in which a fossil, when dated properly, contradicted evolutionary theory. If it was found, it would revolutionize science. So rather than sitting around and throwing stones at an established scientific fact, you go out and FIND evidence that evolution is wrong. Come back to me once you have found it. Bye bye.

@IssyFishyy Actually it does. Darwin even speculated in his book The Origin of Species (though he couldn't prove it at the time) that all life on Earth shared a common ancestor. Today, evolutionary biologists have used DNA evidence to construct a phylogenetic tree from such an ancestor that is widely accepted by the scientific consensus.
