  1.  @penismightier9278  I'll respectfully have to disagree. Some people are naturally born stupid, I think no one understands that better than Prager U viewers. Whether or not that occurs naturally or by chemical alteration makes little difference in the end. If you read 1984 closely, you'll recall that O'Brien specifically told Winston that a revolution was impossible because the vast majority of the population -- the "proles" -- don't know that they are oppressed. Only the Outer Party has any grasp on what's happening, and of course the Inner Party will never unite to relinquish their power. In short, a revolution is not feasible. It's a fool's hope. That's what makes it so terrifying.

  2. Brave New World to me is not nearly as terrifying as 1984. In the latter, everyone is beaten into submission, there is NO privacy and you spend your entire life in misery with no hope of escape. At least in Brave New World you have a chance to be HAPPY, even though you aren't necessarily free. Both books are examples of how liberty may be stripped away from us, but one is executed by means of the stick and the other a carrot (punishment vs. reward). However, I truly feel that if we want to make everyone happy, we allow for as much liberty as possible. They touched briefly on the thought of true happiness, which can only be attained through tribulation and pursuit such as love and marriage. The happiness of the people in BNW is superficial, it doesn't reach the depth that humans are capable of experiencing. I'm not convinced that the conservative values are necessarily right either, as once again you are restraining people not for good reason, but because some "higher power" exists and says it's right. I think the key to creating a utopia would be allow people to choose for themselves what lifestyle they want to live, as each individual is unique. Just because gay marriage is legal or premarital sex is not a crime does not mean YOU have to live your life that way. You can choose to live however you want. It's when we force people to adopt a certain lifestyle that we run into persistent suffering and agitation.

  4.  @penismightier9278  Exactly. There isn't resistance because everyone IS happy. That's why I believe an existence in the BNW civilization is MUCH more preferable than one like 1984. Any person with common sense would agree that a life spent in blissful ignorance and happiness is better than one in eternal misery, oppression and hopelessness. Does that make it moral? Not necessarily, no. I believe freedom is the only moral answer to the question of what state humanity is best living in. But I'll take life in BNW any day than the tyranny, gaslighting, and abject torture of 1984.
