I think Rey and Ben should have teamed up and using their combined strength defeated Palpatine. Then they would both be alive, which is a much better ending imho. The new characters should be the ones to live, and the old ones to die.

This movie is worse than a lot of fanfics out there. It delves deep into "what-if" scenarios, as in "What if Palpatine survived" and "What if Palpatine had children." Because of this (and the monstrosity known as The Last Jedi), I can't say I accept this new trilogy as actual Star Wars canon; at most, it's a fun little side story that speculates about what might have happened after Return of the Jedi if some conditions were met, but not what actually happened. I demand the real sequel trilogy, please.

@profileone5655 It would be a lot like that scene in Harry Potter when Harry and Lord Voldemort were locked in a duel and suddenly the ghosts of the last people Voldemort killed started appearing, including Harry's parents. It's not completely unprecedented in film history.

@deadpoolrockz6410 That's a good point. Qui Gon was the first to discover this power, though never completed it. Since then, though, Yoda was next to learn about it (through Qui Gon) and passed it on to Obi-Wan. Anakin also got word of it (in the Clone Wars) and, while still a dark side practitioner, completed his training as well. Obviously we can assume Luke learned how to do it, probably sometime right after the end of Return of the Jedi, even though he lived out much of his life as a hermit on Ach-To disconnected from the Force. I highly doubt any Jedi, with the possible exception of Ahsoka (because she was with Anakin on that planet in the Clone Wars), learned this power as well. This doesn't mean they aren't in tune with the Force post-death, but are not one with it. Mace included.
