  1. I always appreciated President Nixon's post-resignation honesty. It is sad the general public still does not appreciate his accomplishment. a timely issue is the 21st century corruption of Title Nine.

  2. Agreed. Thank you for your service, and I'm glad the U.S. has finally come to a point of accepting Vietnam era vets no matter where around the world they may have served. Like me, I'm sure you came to understand that President Nixon's generation simply had a perspective and drive we baby boomers (whether we wore the uniform or not) could not fully comprehend at that time.   4. I remember this so vividly. Interesting to contrast how we came home to an unfortunate reception in contrast to the way an evacuation was conducted in Afghanistan nearly half century later. Our military personnel remain the greatest. Both wars went longer than anyone wanted. The Afghan war could have ended after eight to 12 years, but that is not to be debated here. The difference to note is a contrast on how the U.S. looks on a world stage now in comparison to then.

  5. I was thinking the same and comparing similarities between Nixon and Trump regarding their best intentions and results that go uncredited. Nixon was always considered an outsider by the Washington elites. Then he makes one dumb mistake (nothing in comparison to what we see 2021-2024) and he is gone.

  10. I am listening to this debate on the first night of the 2024 DNC. It is amazing how different oratory and attitudes have changed. Oh, and for the record the RNC was far better.

  12. I see a lot of contrasts and comparisons. The biggest difference is North Vietnam just wanted us out and for a their communist government to take over. Today, the Talaban and the terrorist organizations they harbor want to come here and other plces in the western world and kill us. Back they we were still fgting wars based on property and government aggressions. Now, with the War of Terrorism (remember that) we fight an invisible idology. One that can be anywhere and unfortunately tie in peaceful people with kind of a guilt by association with the criminal element.
