  1. I remember this so vividly. Interesting to contrast how we came home to an unfortunate reception in contrast to the way an evacuation was conducted in Afghanistan nearly half century later. Our military personnel remain the greatest. Both wars went longer than anyone wanted. The Afghan war could have ended after eight to 12 years, but that is not to be debated here. The difference to note is a contrast on how the U.S. looks on a world stage now in comparison to then.

  3. I see a lot of contrasts and comparisons. The biggest difference is North Vietnam just wanted us out and for a their communist government to take over. Today, the Talaban and the terrorist organizations they harbor want to come here and other plces in the western world and kill us. Back they we were still fgting wars based on property and government aggressions. Now, with the War of Terrorism (remember that) we fight an invisible idology. One that can be anywhere and unfortunately tie in peaceful people with kind of a guilt by association with the criminal element.
