Sometimes we stumble into doing somethng right. We can do it again, even if we try.
3
Yeah, it was nice being too young to be stressed. Too bad kids today do not have the "advantages" we took for granted.
3
Hmm, never really thought of it that way. At least there was an R&B bufffer before disco hit (shiver). That's when I went country. I'm feeling much better now.
3
Appears we have both been remembering much of the same. We are each so privileged to have had careers that would end up being documentation of history. I know I certainly did not think of it at the time. I was concerned about being able to afford enough gas to get me through the week.
3
Another fine selection of your work, David. Oh my, there are always memories attached. Hey, I know that guy. lol Not this time, but there have been some that made me wonder, "Is that?"
3
Real life at it's best. Thanks.
3
First, thank you David for the distraction. Oh yes, I remember this very well. Another excellent piece. I beieve it would help in a form speaking to 2020 and beyond. The Kingdom of God is not determined by human elections ... and recount battles.
3
Great piece, David. Love stories of real people.
3
It is interesting how the use of the word isolation is used and in turn hgh tech has made use more isolated while connecting us globally at the same time. Almost prophetic. Yet, 1984 ...
3
My wife was also a victim of the real AT&T fall.
3
Very timely film, or video, or whatever this is, David. Good research. Just think what we boomers are able to do if the Internet ever fails. We still have value. Safe prediction?
3
Another good one, David. I think we've both finallly reached the level of age and experience to offer commmentary. We deserve it. I like to believe Andy Rooney would be proud. In-joy.
3
Well, this was before Mr. Science (added I stand corrected it was Mr. Wizard), but just as interesting. BTW I got all correct. Thanks for the fun David.

David, I'm in complete agreement regarding moden medicine and especially attitude. I see young veterans with missing limbs and remember that as recent as Vietnam they would have never survived what I've seen happened to others. Attitude? It has been more than a decade now that I have lived under and with the slow advancement of vanishing white matter in my brain and the corresponding physical and cognitive restrictions. Neuroscientists (I think I once told you I am now a research subject) tell me they have no idea how I am still living. I am a miracle and may offer help to someone in the future. Attitude? That goes with quality of life. Sure, I cannot do many of the things I once loved to do, but I've discovered other things I would never have considered. I'm even accepting online communications. Attitude? I want to contribute to your opening. In my experience we are spiritual beings living inside this shell we call a body with an everlasting soul. What we do with all those elements with which we are created is ultimately up to us. Upon my diagnoses my son told me "Make it work for you." My wife and love of my life makes this transition so easy when I consider what could be. Attitude? I genuinely believe God has given us free will to make our lives what they become. Attitude? One of my highlights is being able to comment on your fine films and commentary. Thank you for the oppotunity on such a public platform. Attitude? Simple. Guys like you and me, a couple of baby boomers, can be positive or negative by choice. I say let's join together and go be a blessing.

Ha, ha. I knew somewhere we would get the "Brought to you by General Electric" line. Good recovery, David.
3
Ha, haaaa, yes David. I remember a couple of buddies and I would gather at the magazine stand and one at a time, while the other two were on look-out and try to get a peek inside the brown wrappers. Seldom too successfully.
3
Good commentary, David. Yeah, we worked hard to get this age so we may as well enjoy and apreciate it. Now let's go tell some kids to get off the lawn then laugh.

Hi David. As you know I've mentioned many times how we came of age during an amazing period. There is one element I just recently relized that makes the 1960s different from today. Back then, at least among the differing sides of opinion I encountered, both sides loved America. Today it apppears clear that opposing sides either love or hate America. Back then both sides wanted to see improvements as we entered the second half of the 20th century, but differed in how to approach issues and moral objectives. Today it is even more divided but it is a matter of those that want to improve America as we move onward into the 21st century and those that want to overthrow and abolish America. Oh boy, I imagine the responses I may have just prompted. Continue educating, my generational friend. Be a blessing.

Thanks for the memories David. I love how you fairly present material but never tip your personal hand. I guess we were trained differently.
2
Oh man, sorry (for myself) I missed your live stream. What is this "old man" shit lol. That cannot be us. I may resemble that remark. In-joy.

I was with Waylon, Willie and the boys back then (basically still there). Well, I do not care for heavy metal, nor their foul language. However, I enjoy your interview and anticipate coming follow-ups. Oh, Willie says to tell you "hey." Just kidding on the greeting. He's not here today. LOL
2
I remember that. Thank you for sharing, David.
2
Thank you, David. We all deserve a reminder to remember from where all we came. Amazing what we were blessed to experience, and what we survived. Happy 2021.

ObeyJay13 Do not put words in my mouth or question what I know both good and bad of U.S. history as well as several other nations. Now stop your foolishness. Is there someone who can help me block this troll? I'm losing patience and I like David Hoffman too much to use his channel for arguments.

Vern, think in terms of Proverbs 22:6. It never reveals what may occur between that youth and returning to God in a more, shall we say experienced body, mind and spirit. You and I are responsible for ourselves. After that we are free to live out God's love toward others. It is really simpler than people have always tried to make it. Remember, it is not about religion. It is about a personal spiritual relationhip. Now, let's go be a blessing.
2
Very good, timely placement. Thank you for posting. Blessing to you and your family.
2
As you and I and millions of others learned, children do not come with owner's manuals. In turn no kid is a text book. One size does not fit all. My satisfaction came when my son said to his son what I had always told him, "Because I said so." Ah, sweet revenge.
2
Yeah. I wanted to play center field with the St. Louis Cardinals. Later I realized my short stature was made up for with my lack of talent. Well, David, you know where I eventually ended up after that. 😂
2
Another fine film, David. Thanks for sharing.
2
Wow. What we do not know even in this "information age" always amazes me. Things many among previous generations "hid away" ... "sssssh, we don't talk about that." Yet denial is not the river in Egypt. Great interview. Thanks.
2
Hey David, what confuses me is why today the so-called liberal opened minded universities ban all who do not agree with them. You and I can remember when sides would passionately argue their sides. Most the time afterward they'd go get lunch together. Sigh. I'll tell you what. The older I get the more I long for those radical days.
2
Well, we knew there were two genders and the difference between male and female.
2
At this rate we will be dead by 1990. Oh yeah, we passed that date already. Well, to be honest, I'm more concerned now as I do not think any nuclear power has leadership that truly respects these weapons.
2
Good and different addition David. I still cannot understand the racial progress made between 1955 and aprox 2005 and how it all seems to have fallen apart since then. I'd like to see a skilled documentary on that. Also, are people over 70 now a sub-culture?
2
Great!
2
It is truly sad how many young people of our generation turned out making bad decisions in the name of good intentions. Not only for ourselves but for our children who were raised, in many cases, by parents who were by morality and responsibility less than the greatest generation. As always David, thanks for sharing an insightful film.
2
I'm with you, David. I have no taste whatsoever. Hmm, that doesn't sound quite right.
2
Ha, ha. No, I never could yo-yo.
2
Same s today? Yes. Example: Corporations owning news outlets when they are not primarily in the news business. Censorship and pressure slanting is not reporting or even editorial commentary.
2
When Darnice worked with (the real) AT&T she was on a testing team with those. She would call me at work while I used the land line in the newsroom. They eventually took the phones back from select employees, including her, because they were using the phones so much it was becoming costly. I guess they decided it would work among the general public. I only had a pager. Oh, those were fun days.
2
Yup. I pretty much agree with everything everyone already posted. Where is Herbie today? Hope he found happiness beyond what fame and fortune can offer.
2
I am impressed, but not surprised, how you took a tragic experience and made it something beautiful. Thank you for sharing, David.

Yep.

For several years I wrote a series of features about lawyers and what they do when they are not working. Met a woman who weighed about 98 pounds soaking wet, who make it to the top of Kilimanjaro and back with no problem, according to her. I was more like you in your camp (I avoiaded hospital). LOL So, we are the "expert" recorders of news, culture and history. LOL David, you have offered another excellnt sory. Thank you.
1
You too, huh? LOL Only god part was the pecan pie my grandma made. Guess it made Liberache easier to watch.
1
Now I get it. Wish it had been explained when I was a kid. I would have been more well rounded throughout life. Now, I'm just old and round. I know there are others like me.
1
Very true. Where woud those computer geeks be without electricians and other skilled professionals?

Hi David. Another fine piece thankfully saved in your archives. As we have mentioned previously, I think we kids in U.S. took so much for granted. I'm fortunate in that my mother-in-law was a child (aged 5 through teenages) during the war in Germany and willing told of the hardships she and her family exprience not only during the war, but afterward. Her family was among those living after the war in the Soviet sector of East Germany. She was a hero in escaping to the west and thankfully for me had a beautiful daughter who became my bride. My wife says she does not remember the reconstructing, but both appreciates her heritage as well as being a proud U.S. citizen.

Interesting history lesson, David. Good subject idea as a boomer. (Bad pun from me as a fellow boomer). So many bad wisecracks and just little time. BTW, do you, like I, still have diaper pin scars? Kidding.
1
They all seem normal to me. Thanks for he memory video David.
