  4. Realistically, Germany had no choice. They are such a weak country, they had to fold and move toward a stronger power. It's one inevitable.

  5.  @The_Stef  Germany has been dependent on Russian oil and gas. They have been warned repeatedly to diversify their energy sources, but instead, laughed off that idea. Now winter is hear, energy is in short supply, and weak Germany is trying to cozy up to Russia again.
