We've been in WWIII since 1949, when the USSR gained atomic bomb capability. The so-called "Cold War" was just the beginning phase of the war. Since many nations have since gained nuclear weapons, the tactics of war have changed. That's why you see so many proxy wars, insurgencies, terrorism, cyber warfare, economic sanctions, etc. All because direct conflict between major nuclear powers is out of the question. WWIII is not a flash like One and Two. It's a nearly century long low-intensity conflict.

How's that gonna happen, Ralph? China gonna throw some nukes at the USA? China gonna invade California and Alaska?

I agree with you, as do millions of others. But it just doesn't seem possible. The TV you are talking about wouldn't cost 1000 bucks, it would be more like 8000 bucks. Our amenities have been cheap and plentiful because Chinese laborers work for pennies on the dollar. Now, bring the manufacturing back to the USA, and pay the workers 20 bucks an hour. Not to mention OSHA and safety regulations. Then further add in the potential for unionization, so now you're paying those worker 30 bucks an hour. Plus healthcare, benefits, paid leave, etc etc etc. It just isn't economically feasible anymore.

Especially when you get drafted.

That's all well and good. But there is no "working together" with totalitarian regimes. That goes for both China and the USA...

What world would that be?

Many of those middle eastern countries were already in squalor. The only one that got worse was Iraq. Say what you will about the tyrannical dictator Saddam Hussein, but he did keep the region in line.
