@ihave35cents95 Like always, One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. This is a amazing life. The beautiful around me is breathtaking. Retiring from working in a prison, the noise level was unbelievable. I have no cars, motorcycles, neighbors yelling, etc. It’s peaceful. It is my treasure.

@xaviertheteacher As I said. This is for my family. Whoever can get to me, it will be here for them. After I did this, my older sister that lives in Texas started putting food, water etc.. away for the same reason. I told her if anything happens she could come to my place. She told me that they are to old to make the trip. As long as her supplies last they will be good. My middle sister still doesn’t get it, along with my daughters, but my son is on board. Any other family members also know they are also welcome. Although this is beautiful and peaceful out here, it is also not easy.

@bmanscire I have solar lights that I got off of Amazon, I have 3 large solar panels and 2 small ones that I run 2 1500 watt generators and one 400 watt generator for my phone and tools. I have 10 50 gallon barrels that I use in the summer. In the winter because they freeze, I use snow that I melt and town water for drinking. I have a wood stove, but haven’t hooked it up yet. My heat is a Buddy heater and have about 10 small propane tanks that I use. I also watch the Canadian prepper and have worked a system somewhat like his. It’s a bucket system. Different colors for different types of supplies. Red for medical, white for beans and rice, yellow for powdered dairy products, black for ready to eat foods, green for drinks sugar and honey, etc. I have a loft that I put it in.

@bmanscire I’m sorry if you didn’t get my reply. I’m on cell service only and it’s spotty. I get my electricity from solar lights I got off Amazon. I have 2 1500 watt solar generators and 1 400 watt one. I have 3 300 watt solar panels and 2 100 watt panels. I have 10 50 gallon barrels of water that is filled from town, I use snow in the winter and also get my drinking water from town. I also watch the Canadian prepper and use a system somewhat like his with different colors of buckets. Red for medical, yellow for dried mike cheese etc, green for seasonings, white for beans and rice , etc. I store it in my loft. My heat is right now a Buddy heater and I have 10 small propane tanks. You didn’t ask, but I use a outhouse type system. I hope this helps. Good luck 🍀

@gfg5622 I got land that is fairly close to my family. I needed to find land that I can afford, and is not very close to a large city. My advice is to make a list of what you need from your land. Water, gardening land, climate, (winter/summer), wood for warmth what state has the cheapest taxes, land. If you live off grid,( no water, electricity, etc) are your property taxes reasonable? Some states and or counties make it illegal to collect rainwater. It’s all about what state you want to live in, and what stipulations they may have. Good luck 🍀

@Gilmore304 No. I have no running water, no electricity ( only solar) no flushing toilets, and no WI-FI. I have spotty cell service with a cell tower on the top of the mountain that I live near. I have solar powered lights and 3 large solar panels and 2 small. I have a 1500 watt solar generator and a 400 watt solar generator. That’s it. I change my phone and tools on the 400 watt one and use the 1500 on my small refrigerator. I have a propane cook stove and a propane heater. There are no electrical lines that run even close to my land. This summer I will put in my wood stove for heat. With having WI-FI in most everything, and everywhere, I can see your confusion.

@orcapodmedia My cell service is spotty, but the mountain on the south side of me helps with a tower. There is no internet, electricity, water, etc. I have 4 solar panels with a solar generator. My lights work on there own small solar panels. It’s always funny to have people not understand about what off grid means.

@SimonPeter007 I was limited on money, and I also needed to stay at least I a state away from my children. I found land that was close enough but had to work around the downfalls. First I started to collect some of the things I needed. Solar generators, solar lights, solar panels etc. it helps to get solar lights with their own panels. What I was going to use as a heating source, and books about everything I didn’t know. ( which was a lot!) I made a lot of wrong turns that took a lot of brain cells to figure out how to overcome them. I got a gas powered generator and looked into what I would live in. It’s a new way of life to live without electricity and in a dry cabin, but it’s doable. Good luck 🍀
